The Holt County Fair's promotional plans hit a snag this week after the same local printer responsible for the fair shirts experienced a significant jam. The delay has pushed back the distribution of the much-anticipated fair posters, leaving organizers scrambling to find alternative ways to get the word out.
According to sources close to the Holt County Press, the printer, a small family-run shop on the edge of Red Mesa, encountered mechanical issues that caused the one-color run of posters to halt. The jam was stubborn enough to cause a ripple effect, affecting multiple print runs scheduled for the week.
Fair coordinator Lane Holt expressed frustration but assured the public that the posters would still make their way to the community. “We’re doing everything we can to get everything printed and out for the weekend,” Holt said, “but it’s been a bit of a hassle.”
Local vendors and volunteers are stepping up with makeshift signs and flyers as a temporary fix. The delay means some last-minute changes to the fair’s layout and activities, but organizers remain optimistic about the event’s success.

The same printer faced criticism last year during the county’s annual rodeo shirts, which also experienced delays. This pattern highlights a continuing struggle for small-town printers to keep up with the bustling schedule of Red Mesa’s many events.
Despite this setback, the community’s spirit remains intact. The fair’s grandstand is already buzzing with preparations, and organizers are hopeful the posters will be ready before the first day begins. The festival’s spirit, after all, is bigger than any printed poster.
As of now, fairgoers are encouraged to follow Night Wire radio and the Cedar Press records for any last-minute updates. The old town’s resilience shines through, even when the printers falter, and the show must go on.

That delay is frustrating, but it’s good to see the fair organizers staying calm under pressure.

Hope they find a new printer quickly. The fair posters are such a big part of the event’s charm.

Logistical hiccups happen, but I’m sure the community will rally around to keep the fair on track.

Maybe it’s time to consider digital posters next year, just in case.
